Volunteer Opportunities
Looking to volunteer with CARES? Fill out the volunteer application and fax to Julie Kennedy at 916.914.6324.

Transportation
  • Provide transportation to medical and social service appointments at CARES during day.
  • Provide transportation to evening groups at CARES.
On-going Support Providing Food for People with HIV/AIDS
  • 'Fun with Cooking' and 'Dinner with Dietition' - monthly groups that teach healthy nutrition choices while cooking on a budget for CARES clients. Food items needed each month along with prep assistance.
  • LIFE Program - twice a year, CARES offers a 16-week series on enhancing the immune system. Meals needed for each week.
  • New Client Orientation groups - twice a month, CARES offers a lunch for new clients to educate them about the many services at CARES for people with HIV/AIDS.
Fund Raising
  • Night at the Oscars - help get raffle and auction items for the gala Oscar party on March 7, 2010.
  • NorCal AIDS Challenge - ride or help crew the 4 day/330 mile bike ride from May 20-23, 2010. Help raise funds for TEAM CARES cyclists.
  • Sacramento Valley AIDS Run/Walk - recruit runners/walkers and help raise funds for TEAM CARES for a 5K event on September 12, 2010.
Helping Individual Clients
  • Join a CareTeam to provide support & companionship to someone living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Make a quilt for someone with HIV/AIDS.
  • Provide light household support for some with HIV/AIDS.
  • Provide childcare during medical appointments.
  • Provide hobby training for clients.
Community Awareness
  • Become an HIV/AIDS community educator and or HIV/AIDS tester.
